The First Story I Ever Wrote

To be honest, the first thing I ever wrote was a paper for college. I studied for my degree late in life due to a lay-off from my job thanks to outsourcing. Anyway, when I attended elementary, secondary, and high school, we had the occasional book report, but I rarely had to write any papers, so I was really nervous when I started college and knew papers were part of the curriculum. Once I had my first paper under my belt, so to speak, I realized I had a knack for this writing thing and actually enjoyed it.

Discovering my love of writing, I started a blog and wrote blog posts about things that were near and dear to my heart. This led to receiving messages of a spiritual nature to be shared with the world. During this time frame, I also became inspired to write poetry and shared it on my blog as well. I started doing this in 2010 and by 2013 was feeling strongly led to share my essays with a much wider audience.

I had come across many authors on Facebook who were self-published and decided to check it out. This led to many hours of research and, once I felt comfortable, I delved into it with both feet. I took the first three years of blog postings and compiled them into my first non-fiction book titled: Mystical Musings.

This first project led to several more non-fiction books. I wrapped up my non-fiction writing (except for the occasional poem) in 2015 right around the time I published my first fantasy fiction novel.

The idea for Elven-Jumper came to me during one of my many marathon sessions of watching the Lord of the Rings. As someone who believes in reincarnation, I always wondered what happened to the souls of the Elves when they died on Middle Earth. Would they reincarnate where they died or would they be able to reincarnate on their home realm? If they became tied to the place they died, what would happen?

From these questions, Elven-Jumper and the Realm Jumper Chronicles were born. Each book was originally planned to revolve around a human with memory flashes and their choice of either restoration or remaining human. However, when I sat down and started writing Elven-Jumper, the characters had something totally different in mind.

Dark Elves appeared out of nowhere with their own nefarious agenda. What was supposed to occur in the second book, change drastically, and a prophecy emerged. What was supposed to be the fourth book, became the third book, and the one that was supposed to be third became the last book as more stories emerged. What was originally planned as a trilogy became epic series.
