My Favorite Fantasy Character

My favorite character ever is Lord Aragorn of the Lord of the Rings and this is why…

Lord Aragorn embodies the best of humanity. Does he have his moments of anger and weakness? Yes. But afterwards, he pulls himself up, dusts himself off, and does what needs to be done. He’s loyal, compassionate, and carries himself with a quiet strength, while remaining humble.

His greatest weakness, was self-doubt. He always worried he would be weak, as his forefathers were, and give into the lure of the ‘One Ring’. His doubt was so great, he walked away from the throne of Gondor to ensure he did not repeat the mistakes of the past.

But, when the time came, he set aside that self-doubt and became the king he was born to be. He brought together the armies of Gondor and Rohan and defeated the enemies of Mordor. He embraced his heritage and proved to himself, and others, he was much stronger than he ever thought he would be.

In a world that is driven by greed, arrogance, and selfishness, the character of Lord Aragorn is an example we should all strive to emulate. If even one or two of us adopted the qualities of this character, the world would be a much better place.
